Have you made a video yet?

I have been reading a lot about how every business needs to incorporate video into their marketing programs.   After about the 10th article or blog post, I am of the opinion that this is necessary  now.  I have also been doing some research with a few of my own industrial clients and have come to the same conclusion:  Do it now!   Even if this means just grabbing the camcorder or even a “flip” camera, going onto your shop floor and [...]

Hello, I’m new here. Don’t hold that against me.

Hello everyone, my name is Lee Rostad, and I’m the new copywriter at Ecreativeworks. I’m at the end of my second day, and so far no one has called me N00B yet, so that’s good. I dig writing in all manifestations, so the fact that I’m able to do it as an actual job is pretty great. I write for my job, and I write as a hobby, so it’s a good thing I can type so fast and am [...]

Don’t Neglect Your Product Pages

Many companies spend countless hours deciding on the designs and content for their ecommerce website’s home page and general category pages. They agonize over which images to use, what keywords to target and what the layout looks like. Those pages are very important, but it’s the often neglected product pages that can have the biggest impact on conversions.
When you have thousands or tens-of-thousands of products, updating product pages can seem overwhelming. You wonder if all that detailed, and sometimes tedious, [...]

Inspiration & Distraction: In the Mood to Write

Filed under: Content & Copywriting — Josie

Last night, I went to see a really bad movie. My friends were appalled I hadn’t seen the movie yet. They kept telling me how amazing it was, so because it was raining and finally in the cheap seats, I went. I learned three things that night: 1) they lied, 2) Twilight fans are scary, and 3) electrical enclosures can actually be interesting.
In the parking lot after the movie, I mentioned that I did NOT understand the appeal of the [...]

Instead, choose your keywords for each page based on the information on that page.

Your chosen keyword doesn’t appear anywhere in your page copy. If your page is not about “red widgets,” then that [...]

Hold on…before you go and leave this post because you don’t want to hear the latest trends in graphic design, or how making your site look fresher will increase your online business by X%.  I would like to talk about what your site may really need in a redesign.   I am talking about SEO or Search Engine Optimization.   I am assuming  that your site when it was originally built was done so with no before thought of SEO at all.  [...]

Industrial Blogs – Summary or Full Page?

Jakob Nielsen’s latest usability post had some interesting findings about how people read corporate blogs.
“On corporate blogs, summaries are usually superior to full articles because they let you expose users to a broad selection of topics. Offering more topics increases the likelihood that users will find something that really interests them and thus will click through to read more. (As opposed to leaving.)”
Interesting, because we were seeing similar trends lately and changed our blog’s home page to have summaries rather [...]

Web Content Syndication–What is it?

I am going to stray a bit from the Search Engine Marketing that I usually cover here and talk about something new that seems to be important for the Industrial Marketplace right now.  I believe that this concept will help many industries with their ecommerce solutions in the near future.    This will also bring the need to be on top of your Search Marketing game as it will increase the competition levels for many products.  Content Syndication seems to be [...]
