Yahoo and Microsoft Close to a Deal?

Filed under: General,Google & Other Search Engines — Tracy

Talk of the merger has been going on for months, could it finally be happening?  Is this good or bad for search?  How will it affect Google?
Cnet news reports -
“…several top Microsoft executives are in Silicon Valley to try to finalize a search deal with Yahoo, according to an All Things Digital report late on Thursday.

According to the report, the two sides are “down to the short strokes” after years of excruciatingly well publicized on-again, off-again talks. A deal could come within a week, All Things Digital said.

Included in the Microsoft entourage, according to the report, are three of its top online executives: Yusuf Mehdi, Satya Nadella, and Qi Lu.

  • Google is no doubt the number 1 search engine in the world today. Because of this Yahoo and MSN have tried their best to beat the Big G for several years. And now, their solution is merger. There will be a big impact but I guess they will need more efforts because I think their combined market share is still less than Google’s.
