I recently read an outstanding article by Gord Hotchkiss of Enquiro, a search engine marketing firm. The article explains that high-functioning companies with healthy cultures almost always have SEO success. The reason for this is not because of specific techniques or SEO secrets that these prosperous companies know. Healthy companies achieve SEO success because of their overall attitude towards change and improvement.

Gord states “Working on SEO is like taking your Web site to the doctor: a good SEO consultant will tell you what you have to do, but the hard work is up to you.”

Making your website prominent and powerful online is not easy. When you sign up for search engine optimization services with an agency, you won’t hear much in the way of what’s right – you’ll hear a lot about what’s not working. Companies and executives that can handle the thought of flaws and change that is needed, will get right on board with the demands of SEO. Indeed, companies that foster this type of “let’s take on the challenge” attitude are made up of individuals that value continual improvement. As an SEO specialist, when I sense that a client is ready to make changes and willing to hear about opportunities for improvement, I get ridiculously excited. Because all I need is an enthusiastic and able partner, to make a website grow and thrive online.

For industrial and B2B companies, this lesson is particularly important. Companies that have not quite gotten their bearings in the online world might feel overwhelmed and unwilling to take on all the new information and modifications needed to be a viable online presence. But the Internet is not going away, and even though your company may operate in the most non-tech-savvy field, interactive marketing must be a part of your marketing tools.
