Hitwise Report on Latest Search Trends for February ’09

Hitwise recently reported their latest search engine data for February 2009.  Google continues to increase it’s market share just barely over last month, but significantly over a year ago.

Hitwise also reported their findings for search queries. Once again the changes from this month to last aren’t significant, but comparing last year to this year the changes are substantial. As people continue to be more sophisticated in their searching, long tails searches become more prevalent. The best way to take advantage of this is to continue to add more copy to the existing pages of your site and to create new pages on a regular basis. Remember to update your xml sitemap every time you add a new page!
