Google Analytics Updates

If you’re using Google Analytics to monitor your website’s traffic, you’ve probably noticed a few changes lately.  Google announced some updates to Analytics that will improve how you can view and sort data.  (Note: these new features will be rolled out in the coming weeks, so you might not see everything yet.)
•    Updated user interface. The new interface isn’t radically different, but some subtle changes in the shading and lines around the boxes make it seem fresh.  It’s still a very clean look and nothing major has changed.
•    Changes to management center.  When you log in you’ll have quick summaries of all your stats.  User management will also be improved, with better control over user accounts and access.
•    Create custom reports.  See exactly the information you want with custom reports.  You’ll be able to make your own charts and graphs, giving you more power to analyze your data.
•    Better traffic breakdowns.  You’ll be able to more easily compare different kinds of traffic, like organic vs. PPC, and integrate that into custom reports.
•    New Motion Charts.  Google’s new feature gives you the ability to chart data on 5-axes.  Neat bubbles, colors, and history trails show you how keywords have performed on a number of metrics.
•    New API.  With the new Analytics API, Google is opening the door to more developers to come up with features of their own.
•    AdSense integration.  This will take a few months to be completely available, but you will have better performance metrics to view traffic sources, referring sites, and page views.

Google is using YouTube to help them announce these updates, and you can view Google’s videos which demonstrate the new capabilities.
