Whether you have experience with writing and submitting press releases online to market your business or are just beginning to market your site online, it’s easy to ensure better online publicity through optimization of your media releases. Use optimized press releases to reach a wider audience and bring even more traffic and potential clients to your industrial or commercial website!
- Choose Accurate Keywords & Phrases
Choose keyword phrases that accurately describe the service, product or capability you are announcing in your press release. As an industry expert, you may feel that your process or product terminology is appropriate to use in a keyword phrase, especially when writing for other experts. However, you’ll want to consider including layman’s terms in a phrase or two, to help your article reach the widest audience.
A maximum of three keyword phrases relating to your topic or announcement is usually sufficient. Using too many phrases may be considered “keyword stuffing”, which is frowned upon by search engines.
- Use Keywords in Your Header
The next step is to include the most important keyword phrase in the header or headline of your press release, as the headline carries the most weight with the search engines. Also, make sure that this phrase appears at least three times throughout the text of your article.
- Create a Unique Page for Press Releases
Finally, a good strategy to maximize exposure of your press releases is to create a unique page on your website dedicated to press releases and include links from your homepage to the press releases page. This is not only a good internal linking strategy it also helps increase your page rank for the press releases page by transferring page rank from the home page to the press release page. Also, by linking your press release to your website, you are helping to increase traffic to your site.
Use these optimization strategies for your press releases and watch traffic to your site soar!

Your reminder to use the same keywords that people type into the search engines is a good one. I see so many companies using industry lingo in their releases instead of more generic phrases that the general public uses.
As a publicity expert, I get more questions about the topic of press releases than any other topic.
That’s why I created a free email tutorial on how to write and distribute press releases. You can opt into it at http://www.PublicityHound.com/pressreleasetips/art.htm
