Optimizing Links for YouTube, Google Video, and Images: Search Engine Trends

Filed under: Advanced SEO Concepts,Driving Traffic,General — Julie Heltunen

In a recent newsletter I read about search engine optimization a recent discovery was reinforced. Companies, clients, individuals trying to market a product or service should start optimizing their videos and images for YouTube, and Google: Video, News, Images, Local and Blog Search.

In the recent presentations I have had the opportunity to sit through, most of the presenters used clips from YouTube to demonstrate a point. It was a marketing class, but the increase in these sorts of clips were amazing! There are how-to clips, educational clips, humorous clips and advertisements. But what works for YouTube or Google Video is that people are searching for these clips. They watch them because they are interested!

I think this interest is sparked, because a community is built. Somebody can view a clip, share with another and post comments. It’s networking online and building relationships. Social media is the driving force in many industries today. The state of Michigan (my home state, had to throw that in there!) started a new website that is focused around building a community and interest in the state by blogging: providing real life stories of the Great State.

It wouldn’t hurt to post your company’s video clips on YouTube or optimize for a Google Video search. Following the trends of the younger consumers is where your money is.
