Hilarious Post from Matt Cutts – Undetectable Spam

Filed under: General,Google & Other Search Engines — rhavenn

Matt Cutts always has great information on his site. Today he posted a story that I think is hilarious. Why? Because I talk with people on a regular basis that think they can outsmart the search engines. And some people do – for a little while. But Google (and the other search engines) have some pretty smart folks in their organization the will eventually find the spam.

Synopsis of the story: Matt removed a spammy site from the Google index. The SEO wrote to Matt asking why, and Matt kindly explained. (How great is that?) The SEO had created pages that were doorway pages and redirected people to the homepage, etc… When the SEO thought he was forwarding the email to the client, he actually responded to Matt – fessing up to the spam he used on the clients site!! Ha! To read it all check out the full post.

This is why we don’t do spammy things on our clients websites!
