Web 2.0 is a buzz word that’s been flying around the marketing world for the last year or so.

What is Web 2.0?

What does “Web 2.0″ really mean? It means all the things we’ve been talking about on this blog: Linking building, blogging, social networking.

But surely it means more than this?

Yes – in summary – it means creating websites that are usable, provides rich information, and participating in the web community. The more you give to the community – the more you will get back. Call it: Internet Karma.

How do you jump on the Web 2.0 bandwagon? And do you have to?

First – yes – you have to jump on this bandwagon. Why? It will bring long term benefits to your business. You will see your visibility jump and as a result your business will feel it.

Here are a list of New Years SEO Resolutions you can make to get started in Web 2.0

  1. I promise to take a long hard look at my website and make sure I’m providing the content people are looking for in the easiest way possible.
  2. I promise to start participating on blogs, forums, and message boards.
  3. I promise to lose page weight.
  4. I promise not get upset at Google for not being #1 for the term “industrial”.
  5. I promise to start writing press releases about new products and services I offer.
  6. I promise to write articles about my industry and submit them to digg, reddit, Technorati and other applicable websites.

That’s not so hard, is it? Just start doing this little by little and integrate it as part of your overall marketing plans.
